Blimp beach

During June we announced our Summer 2013 internship program. We received tons of applications and even though it was kind of hard to decide who to pick -so much talent out-there, we were able to recruit three phenomenal individuals who we believe will greatly contribute to our project and will take great advantage of this experience!

Meet our Summer 2013 Intern Team, they are awesome!

Web Developer, Tahirí Laboy

“I am an undergraduate seeking a major in Computer Science at the UPR Río Piedras. After spending some years working in academic research (optical orthogonal codes and graph theory), I realize that what really moves me is web development and software engineering. The projects in which I have collaborated include an Android app to promote tourism in Puerto Rico, an assessment web tool for the Office of Evaluation of Student Learning at UPR Río Piedras and, currently, a mobile app for Cambio en Clave to promote salsa dancing in the island. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and learning new things. My goals are to finish my degree (and maybe complete a Master in Software Engineering), get a decent job and start my own startup.”

Web Developer and Designer, Ryan Oliver @r23712

“Even though I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering I quickly realised that field didn’t suit me. I began taking courses in economics and business and after graduation found myself immersed in a desire to learn code. I have been given great opportunities to learn and normally seek an environment that challenges me. Last year, I worked at DigitalTree as a front end developer for Gustazos and Trident among others, after that experience, I began freelance work for Puerto Rico and New York marketing agency Pie Advertising.  My love for everyday design makes me at ease in front of pixels, with a new-found love in Ruby and Rails.  I have been actively promoting the startup community and most recently helped organize the “Startups Puerto Rico Co-Working Day” to gather the local tech community in a casual working day scenario.”

Hacker in Training, Daniel J. Del Río F @Hob0Dan1

“I was born on the 17 of july year 1997. I love computers, like seriously. I’ve been studying computer science on my own for 3 years now. I started with Microsoft technologies, that’s what I had at the moment. Now I’m more Unix/Linux type of guy, open source guy etc… I dedicate like 80% of my time to the computer, to programming, to reading about I don’t know how a processor works etc… I just love computers, that’s it. Oh and mathematics.”

Here you have them. Local young talent helping us make a dent in the universe.
