A while back we introduced a new feature called workspaces. The idea was to allow users that own multiple companies to manage them individually but without the need to log out and then log back in with another set of username and password.
Soon after that some of you pointed out that it was kind of confusing to understand the idea of a workspace since it behaved like what is commonly called an account everywhere else on the web. We thought about and decided to change the name and also make a few improvements to help you better understand what’s going on.
When you sign up for Blimp you get a free account. That account is free forever, you can have as many users as you want but you can only manage a single project. If you want to manage more projects, just upgrade to Blimp pro for $19 a month and you will be able to manage as many projects as you want.
If you have another company or want to manage personal projects individually you can create another account. That new account will have to be subscribed to Blimp Pro from the start, since we only allow one free account per user.
Our older users that already have two free accounts can keep them. But have in mind that if you delete one of those free accounts you won’t be able to create another one. From that point you’ll be subject to the one free account per user policy.
One username and password
The main advantage of this approach is that you only need to remember one set of credentials. After you sign in, you can easily switch between accounts if you ever need to.
By default Blimp will send notifications for all accounts to the email address you signed up with. You can modify this and assign a different email address to each individual account if you need to. You can also manage notification settings individually. Just go to your settings page and click on “Change notifications”.
